Gland Housing

Gland housing is a protective casing used to encase and support a sealing gland in various mechanical systems, such as pumps, compressors, or valves. Its primary function is to house the packing or seals that prevent fluid or gas leakage from the system while allowing a rotating or reciprocating shaft to pass through. The gland housing helps ensure the seals remain properly aligned and compressed, maintaining the integrity of the seal under various operating conditions, including high pressure and temperature.

Typically constructed from durable materials like stainless steel, bronze, or cast iron, gland housings are designed to withstand harsh environments and mechanical stresses. Regular maintenance and inspection of the gland housing are essential to ensure it remains in good condition, as worn or damaged housings can lead to seal failure, causing leaks or reduced system efficiency.
